San Diego Scouting??

Any of you local guys getting out and scouting at all??  I know there is still some time, but with a baby on the way in 15 days, I'm starting to get out there.  Some nice flocks this year, I wish I could still hunt my backyard on Palomar...but just got permission near Cuyamaca!  I can't wait to bag another bird...

You just got permission near

You just got permission near Cuyamaca????  Hmmmmmm.....  And I have never killed a turkey either... Big smile

I will be headed out one of the next couple of weekends Andrew.  My 4 year old likes to ride along and call to them out the window.  It's funny cause they'll actually answer.

We usually hit Eagle Peak and Boulder Creek.  Most of them are on private, but the flocks are huge and the kid likes it.

Let me know if you want to hook up for some scouting.  I am available most weekend mornings.

And, if you need a partner at Cuyamaca, let me know too.... Hello

Starting Turkey hunting near San Diego this spring - need guide

Hi All,  I'm interested in finding a San Diego area turkey hunting guide for the spring season coming up here in a few weeks.  I've been having a lot of difficulty finding a guide in this area (everyone is closer to central CA).  Thanks for any recommendations (either posted her or messaged to me directly).

Well, you won't really find

Well, you won't really find any guides that I now of.  You may be able to find some private land to lease, for about the same price you'd pay a guide, but to find an actualy guide, I have not heard of many, if any.

How to lease land for spring Turkey hunting

Thanks Ca_Vermonster!  Do you know how someone goes about finding land to lease (huntinglease.com or anything with a more SoCal focus)?

Honestly, I don't.  I have

Honestly, I don't.  I have heard that private land is hard to come by, so I fight with the rest of the general public for spots.

I did see a listing in Craigslist a few months ago for someone wanting to trade their private land access for something.  It was in Santa Ysabel, and had deer and turkey available.

GPS with public land boundaries?

I had a great day today - scouted some turkey hunting locations (just the most popular ones that everyone seems to know about).  Now I'm going to look into a GPS with NFS and BLM markers on it.  I'm very concerned about accidentally shooting on private land or trespassing, etc. Any advice on a good GPS with So Cal public hunting boundaries?

Only a few more weeks until my first turkey season
