Safari Arms Hawken?

Hi,
I've come across a Safari Arms Hawken 54 cal rifle I can get for a pretty reasonable price. All I know about bp is what I've read in one of Fadala's books.

I understand safari arms is no longer in business. Any opinions on their quality? If something goes wrong and I need some part is it a boat anchor? I believe it's 1 in 48 twist.

Thank you for your input.

Very few moving pcs on a cap/flint lock gun. The only thing(s) that could break would be the lock, the trigger or the stock. All thyree of these things you can buy from companys like "Track of the Wolf", "Dixie Gun Works", "Golden Age" etc. It is doubtfull that Safari mfg' their own parts even if they did the basic hawken design is just that and it (proub) would not take much work to mod new parts to fit and work.
