Sabot Slug reccomendations

I need to sight in my 870 express with a rifled barrel for deer season in early november, and I'm looking for some advice. I'm hoping some one more experienced on this forum could give me the pros and cons of some of the more popular sabot slugs. I know some one is going to tell me I should buy a box of each type and see how they group with my gun, but at this point that is getting a little expensive. When sighting in if I'm not happy with the groups I will switch shells but if they are pretty good I'll stick with it.
Most of the shots I will be taking should be less then 50 yards and I'm using open sights that came on the gun, if that helps with slug selection.
Also with this range what distance should I sight in for?
thanks

If you're sure that your shots will be less than 50yds, then sight in for 50. However I would reccomend sighting in dead on at 100 yds just in case the buck of your dreams steps out at 80yds. After that test shoot at 50 and 25 yds so that you will know where it will be at the ranges you expect to be hunting. I'm not an expert on ballistics but I doubt the difference from a modern, rifled sabot slug gun will be more than a couple inches at most.

Night Raider
I have been using the Remington Buckhammers with a lot of sucess last couple of years. They are not a Sabot but are made to shoot out of a rifled barrel. Give them a try, they really knock the white tails down.

I use the lightfields in both My 870 rifled barrel and My Mossburg 500 rifled barrel. Both guns LOVE them!!! I also zero at 100 and with the Mossy I get inside 2 inch groups and the 870 inside 1 1/2. And AMAZING knockdown. Folded a buck dang near in half at 75 yards a couple years ago. Ive tried bout every sab out there and the lightfields do the best IMO in grouping and consistancy both.

Thanks for the replies, I ended up sighting in with 2 3/4" buck hammers, wow do they ever kick. I was expecting something like a 3" magnum goose load but these are a lot worse. They should work for for my situation, longest shot from my blind is 30-35 yards.
And things are already looking good, I woke up looked out my cabin window and a deer was staring right at me about 10 yards away. Just 2 more weeks.
