S. Cal Deer hunting

Does anybody know if they have any deer hunting left in the mountains of Southern California still? If so, where is the best spots left , if any,and are there any size to them? As a boy, I grew up there and used to hunt the San Bernardino mountain areas, including Seven Oaks, Bear Creek, Holcomb Creek, Crestline and Squints Ranch area. Also behind Wrightwood ,towards the desert ,was pretty decent mule deer hunting. This was in 1961-65. Geee, from what I have heard, maybe there is'nt any deer or hunters left ,period!!!!! eye roll

I'm farther south... San Diego county. The more I hunt the harder they are to find. Plenty of sign. Some dude took a 6x6 with a bow and arrow sept 5th. Don't know where he was though, but it was public land. His first bow hunt too, i heard, and the deer just walked right past him. Total case of "Right place at the right time"

let us know how your hunt is going. anybody else hunting the same area? It is most likely hot and dry out there. I imagine a water source such as a spring, etc. would be a good spot for a setup with a bow..

Yeah, it's totally hot and dry. Still hunting is VERY difficult. Almost all water is underground by now, the water that's above ground is almost all on private land.

Hunting is tough.

Deer hunting in So Cal

New to the hunting arena in Northern L.A. County. I hear there are some decent size deer but nothing spectacular around here. Most of the good hunting is on private land and they charge a fortune to hunt.
