any body have any idea when the rut is going to kick in in southern Arkansas,,, Just moved here from back east 6 months ago.. I got a nice 10 pointer Thanksgiving day with a realy swelled up neck but the rest of the bucks I've seen have pencil necks.. Haven't seen a buck chasing a doe or cruising looking for does... No rutting activity at all,,,, what gives????????

I do not hunt Arkansas, but do hunt Tennessee & Kentucky. I'd say the primary rut is over and has been around here since the week after Thanksgiving. In this area, I see the most rutting activity from early November through Thanksgiving timeframe. Last year I killed a buck chasing a doe in mid November (Tn early M/L) and I've seen very few bucks "cruising" for the last 2 weeks here. I killed another buck this early Tn M/L (6th) and another opening day of Ky rifle, the 12th of Nov. Both were looking for does. My 3rd buck was killed two weeks ago and was following a trail some does had passed by on an hour earlier. Perhaps some secondary rut action may spring up now with does re-entering estrus, but I have only witnessed one small 8 pnt out and about lately "looking". I have not seen any scrapes worked in over 2 weeks, maybe 3.

Agree with Tndeerhunter
I hunt in West Tn and have not seen any buck chasing does lately. The last one I saw after does was during ML season on the 18th of Nov and I shot him. The bucks I have seen lately have been feeding and have had does around them but were not interested.
