Ruger M77 Standard vs Remington 700

I am buying a new rifle for a present. I am considering one of the two in the subject line. What I really need to know is which is the best as far as accuracy and quality? Which has the best of the box performance?

Anyone own both and have an opinion? Think

Thanks

I have a rem 700 BL and my buddy Had the Ruger . Both in 270 win.

We both used each others at the range many, many times. Both very accurate No noticeable difference.

Both very good rifles. the only difference that I don't like is the ruger trigger is not adjustable and most factory rifles come with a trigger pull that is too stiff for my liking.

Well as far as Ruger or Remington........to me it's kind of like the old Ford & Chevy fight.....I my self love both. I have a Ruger M77 and a Remington M 700 in 30-06. I haven't had much trouble with either one. But to pick them apart...I think Remington M700 actions are the toughest factory action money can buy. As for Ruger their actions are good but what they lack in an action they make up for in their barrels. Ruger kind of dissappoints me with their change to the wing saftey from the old tang saftey. Remingtons Saftey is kind of in the middle but very easy to get used to. Welp thats about all I had to say on the matter.......but in my mind either way your not going wrong

The rem 700 is the best selling rifle in America for a bunch of reasons. Think of it as the F150 of rifles.

Idon't think there's a factory rifle on the market that's not strong enought for the cartridge it's chambered in. Between Ruger and Remington, I've owned and/or still own them. Accuracy wise, out of the box the general opinion seem's to be Savage.

Remintgon has a trigger you can adjust although people strongly advise you not to fool with it just befor they tell you how! My Ruger's were the old tang safty and as I recall they had adjustable trigger's also, but not the same class as the Remington 700. The biggest thing for me is the round action of the 700. Much easier to bed. Quatity wise, I think Remington has slipped. Last two I bought new, a Model 7 and a 700 ADL shot terrible. Sort of have the 700 shooting but gave up on the Model 7.

The 700 is the first synthic stock centerfire I've ever owned and I understand the stock is junk, haven't replaced it yet.

Okay, I have heard a whole bunch of opinions and have let you guys decide for me. It will be the Remington 700 CDL. It seems to be just one step up from the BDL. Thanks for all of your time and trouble spent in helping me decide.
