Ruger LCP or Kel-tec .380

I have a kel-tec in 32 auto. My bro-in-law wants to get a ruger LCP in 380 but I told him he could save a bunch of money by gettinga  kel-tec (essentially the same gun). Do you guys know who copied whom on this matter. I thought that the kel-tec came first. Any tips on which he should get. I won't be offended if its the LCP haha.

My wife got an LCP last year

My wife got an LCP last year and it has been a great little gun.  No proubs with it all and the accuricy is not to shabby.

Have never been a big Kal-Tec fan so the vote is easy for me, get the Ruger (still made in America too)

I own 2 Kel Tek firearms and

I own 2 Kel Tek firearms and thier customer service is great but on this one I have to go with the LCP. I handled both and the Ruger finish is much better and I was able to pull the deal for only 30 dollars more.

The gun works perfect and is plenty accurate for it's intended purpose. When my daughter got her permit last month I picked up another one and added a Crimson Trace laser to it. Not so impressed with the laser by the way but thats just me.

And the KelTek came long before the Ruger. Ruger just refined it some.

I always carry 2 guns and my

I always carry 2 guns and my edc strongside carry is a Colt Delta 10mm. The LCP goes in my pocket on the weak side.

In testing on deeer and antelope carcasses I've actually been pretty impressed with the performance of the .380 using Hornady Critical Defense loads.

And none of my friends carry a gun at all. lol

The Kel-tec was around longer

The Kel-tec was around longer although "copied" is kind of a strong statement, although the resemblance is unmistakable.  Nearly all guns are "copies" of previous patents or designs.

As an example, all the rage these days in "cutting edge" ar-15 designs are those that have some some form of a piston driven gas system, rather than the gas impinging design.  However this isn't really "cutting edge" since the same design was used in the ak-47 or the FAL and was even adapted into guns like the FNC and AR-180/18 (both ar-15 like) decades ago.
