Ruger Frontier Bolt Action

Last night I won a new Ruger Frontier bolt action .308 ( Model 77 Mk II with a 16 1/2 " bbl) at a Whitetails Unlimited Banquet. Has any one had any experience with this particular model of Ruger? I am particularly curious abot mid-range (200 ty0 300 yd) accuracy. I appears to be a good size tor tight cover or shooting from a blind.

I've neither seen or heard of one.
What is the barrel length? What action, stock? etc......
The Rugers are good usable rifles. The stock design measuements, of the 77, are used by many stock makers because of the way the recoil comes back on your body.

Ruger Frontier Bolt Action

It look like a great heavy timber rifle for Washington. I wouldn't mind having one in 358win.

Anyone fired one with a forward mounted scope of intermediate eye relief? What scopes are available for this rifle besides the 2.5x Leupold?

Ruger Frontier Bolt Action

I have the Frontier in 300wsm. The forward mount scope is different, the gun is a blast to shoot. The low power of the scope seems to be the limiting factor in long distance shooting. I have been able to shoot the orange clay pigeons at 300 yards, because I can see them. Same treatment on milk jugs. Paper targets are tough at that distance with the low power scope. The difference in muzzle velocity between the Frontier and my Kimber in the same caliber, using the same shells is not enough to worry about - 160 fps on average. The Frontier shoots in the 2850 fps range , 180 gr accubonds, IMR 4831 powder, the Kimber shoots these shells just over 3000 fps. Have I mentioned that the gun is totally FUN to shoot.
Hope this helps.
