Rookie Bow Hunter

Hi,
I am in Central Maryland in the Silver Spring area and although there isnt much area to hunt, I find my way out pretty much every weekend to hunt but I havent yet hit anything.
I got to shot at a couple of deers but missed them.
I use a ground blind. I am getting so frustrated.
Do you have any advice that I could use???

Thank you

Rookie Bow Hunter

For many years I hunted with a bow from the ground but with out a ground blind. It is very difficult to draw on a deer without being seen. A few years ago I purchased a good climbing tree stand and now on some days I have deer walking under me. Tree stand is the way to go.

Thank you
I appreciate your help. I've read a lot of article about Bow hunting and it appears that Tree stand are indeed a good way to go.

Welcome-

I have been bowhunting for fifteen years, but have been successful since 2007. When bowhunting up here in the Northeast, I find I see more game while in a treestand. I have seen many deer while in stand but have not let an arrow fly yet. I have taken two black bear in New Hampshire from my treestand. I shot my second bear back in September. I have hunted from ground blinds, I actually had four given to me from Field and Stream magazine, you can sign up on their web site to be a field tester, and if they pick you to test a product, you rate the product and get to keep them- pretty sweet deal. Anyway, while bowhunting, I use a treestand. While gun hunting- when the season is later, and normally colder, I enjoy the ground blind. Good Luck, shoot straight and welcome to the wonderful world of hunting.

Bundy.

Definitely go with a tree stand otherwise you waste much of your time on thinking of your frustrations and lack of success. Be patient too, it will come.

Time for a Deer

Hey guys, just wanted to post an open question. During the early bow season in upstate NY (Lysander area), what does everyone suggest for calls or anything to get the deer to come in. I have been hunting for quite a while and have used the Primos Can Call, which has worked a couple times. I just want more excitement out there. Often when I don't see anything, I feel as if it was a bad night because I could have been home doing something. Any replies would be interesting.

Re: Rookie Bow Hunter

Hey Rookie. In the hardwoods, for some reason, I have much better luck out of a stand - however, most of my time is spent hunting the boudary between the hard and softwoods - in those spots, I use blinds most of the time - mainly because I may want to move each day, based on wind....
