Cast bullets! I make all my handgun bullets, they are usually free. Seems like the Hornet was just made for them.

155 45gr cast bullets from a pound of wheel weights. Add a gas check, damn near free and about 4grs Unique thats it. You can load 1750 rounds from a pound of powder. $18 per pound = .01 cents per round. Maybe a penny for a gas check and whatever primers go for and there you are. I'd figure the primer cost for you but haven't bought them in years. Still have about 25,000 on hand!

Well guys I went ahead and put the dough down and bout the rifle. $613.00 lighter...LOL and Im buying a Leupold 3X9X50 insted of the other scope..should be a hell of a deal when Im finished..... thanks for the help

You can't go wrong with the 300 win mag. Enough in case you ever come up here for a visit and can be loaded lighter for smaller game.

The M-77s are pretty popular up here as well for a good soild utility rifle.

Funny you should show float.....I just got the word today from a family friend I will be up to Fairbanks to help out around the lodge next fall after fire season is over here at home. The .300 will be along for the trip....

Get the 300 Win Mag if you want it. I have one and love it. Not sure why everyone gets turned off after a couple shots? I was out yesterday and popped off close to 100. My shoulder felt it a little when I left.

I shoot a 7 Mag as well, and there is not too much difference between them. Never shot a 30/06 because I didnt want to get a gun that everyone, their cousin, and their dad have. It might be "universal" but also spells vanilla and boring to me.

Dont fear the recoil as I have seen small women shoot 7 Mag, 300 Win Mag, and they never complained as much as grown men on hunting boards!

LOL...at 195 pounds I have no trouble with recoil....my brother and I were at the gun smiths today with dad and well to make a long story short dad and our gun smith have been friends since they were in kindergarden....and my brother had some free gun work done...but the gun smith had a rifle he custom built in 404 jefferys....well I shot a few rounds throught it....nice gun to...get bored check them out....
