30-06-180gr

The 30-06 with 180 grain bullets like the Nosler Part and AB are excellent for moose, I prefer the 338 Win with 225gr bullets, but sometimes you catch me in the woods with my 06'.

Don't expect a moose to drop at the shot, they tend to walk a ways then drop!

Alaskan Rifles

I have noticed a lot of postings about different calibers and choices, and although I am new here, and have not looked everywhere, I have noticed so far that the 50 Alaskan apparently has not been mentioned. If it has, please direct me to those pages. The main reason I am posting it here, is due to the fact that I am about a week away from ordering one of these custom jobs that will take about a year to complete. I have heard a good bit of praise and nothing really negative about this. Anyone care to share what they know about this particular cartridge? I would appreciate anything and everything you may know about it from bullet drop, to trajectory, to bullet coefficient, to stories that you have heard about people shooting it, or hunting with it. Thanks for any information that anyone wishes to share.

Rifles fo hunting in brown or grizzly country

When I hunt alone I carry a 7mm Rem Mag w/ 175 gr. While I'm guiding and have to back up a hunter I carry a 375 HH.

I was reding a post on a

I was reding a post on a different forum a while back and this guy had a 50 alaskan, it was a sweet looking gun, and he said his kicked just a little more than a 30-06. i wonder how this would be possible, he took a pic of the bullets side by side(30-06 and his 50) and there was a huge difference. it looked like a fun gun to shoot but what would someone hunt with a cannon like that?

Seems how it is my favorite

Seems how it is my favorite gun in the safe I would take my .338 win mag.  Plenty enough power for the animal I am hunting and then more than enough to protect myself with.
