The stock on mine has a block but I imagine that is because it's fiberglass. I still epoxy bedded the action.

This is my 7mm Magnum,... I've bedded action, and floated the barrel, I've reset the trigger to a crisp 2 1/2 lb. pull.

It has a Leupold VXL Long Range 4.5-14X56 scope with a Harris swivel mount bi-pod. I have developed my own handloads for it, and it shoots sub-moa @ 100 yards

The stock is a semi-inletted Boyd's laminate stock that I completed in both fit and finish.

I love this rifle!

Terry,

Friend of mine had a laminate on a 264 Win back in the early 70's. Liked his stock, looked just like yours. How much trouble was it to gouge out the barrel channel? My friend said it was tuff. Oh, his was heavy also. Not a carrying around rifle.

Don,.. it wasn't TOO bad,.. I have a plethora of tools at my disposal. A good hand rasp and a dremmel tool to do the clean-up before all of the hand work detailing. I personally think the worst part of the job was the thumbhole area.

You have to go VERY slowly, and be careful NOT to take too much material from crucial structural areas. This was my 2nd stock I made for the same action and barrel. My first one was a Claro Walnut blank that I did in a varminter stock pattern (another thumbhole stock) This took me well over 320 hours to shape, inlet, and channel out. I did a complete tung-oil finish on the final assembly with rosewood caps. That took another 20-30 hours for all the steps needed.

I've only gone out to 400 yards with her,.. not many places in Michigan I can reach out that far with her. The longest target range in my area only hits the 300 yard mark. Cry

But when I go out west I can reach out and "touch things" a we bit further out. Yes

I decided to post another of my projects,... still in the works but coming along real nicely.

This is my Carl Gustav's 6.5 X 55 Swiss Mauser that I'm making a Maple stock for. I started this last fall but had to put it down due to my hunting schedule and just receintly restarted the project. I'm hoping to have it completed by May of this year.
