Let's see what you fellas are using for long range shooting.

Here's mine:

It's a Savage Model 110 action with a Sharp Shooter Supply trigger, stock, recoil lug, and bolt handle. Barrel is a 30" Broughton chambered in 7mm WSM. Scope is a Leupold Vari-X II 6-18X40 AO with Ken Farrell base and rings.

It is primarily a 600y & 1000y target rifle but I hope to one day be able to do some long distance varmint shooting with it.

Gonna have to put mine on here tomorrow. Need to get a photo of it. Looks like a 700BDL because it is. But it's in 6.5-06 with a 26" Shilen barrel, heavy mag taper. 4.5-14x Nikon in Leupold one pice base and rings. Weight's 9 1/2# MTY. The trigger is the factory Rem that I took down to 3#. The stock has been relieved everywhere and the the action bedded and the barrel floated from the action forward.

It was supposed to have had a 1-8 twist but had trouble with 140gr bullets. Turns out it's a 1-9! Finally started shooting some Sierras again in it and the only 140gr I found that would shoot well was the 140gr MK. Have only shot it to 500yds but it shoots 3 1/2" group's with disgusting regularity. I'll get a photo tomorrow.

That's a nice rifle JC. I just can't get close to plastic stocks tho. Have a Rem factory on a 700ADL, junk. Keep thinking I'll try a good one some day but I love wood!

Thanks for the compliments.

Don;
My next target rifle is going to have a laminated wood stock. I would like to use a hardwood stock but prices for a target stock are cost prohibitive now.

Friend of mine had a walnut/maple laminate. He said it was hard to inlet. Heavy too. I'd like to have a walnut/walnut laminate. I do like them.

Here it is. If I were to do this over, I'd do a 6.5x270 Gibbs. Hear a lot of good things about the Gibbs version and would use the 270 case for a bit longer neck and cases I don't and won't have a rifle for. I refinished the stock with Tru Oil a couple years ago and gouged it out to bed in Micro Bed for the action and floated the whole barrel. I think a walnut/walnut laminated stock in thumb hole would be nice!

I was up at Night force several years ago and the kid that owns it has a 308 Bare in a laminated maple stock w/30" barrel weights 35#.

Hey you guys. Do those rifles you have have a bedding block for the action? I've thought I'd like to try one. Either that or the Darrel Holland system that floatf the action and the barrel in front of the chamber.
