Requesting info hunting Idaho -Frank Church Wilderness Area

I have scheduled a mule deer/elk hunt in unit #27 of the Frank Church W.A. in Central Idaho the week of Nov. 12th.
I am going with an outfitter....I understand that Nov. is when the rut is for mule deer in this area. Seems kind of late for the rut given the cold weather this area gets starting in Sept.
Has anyone hunted this area....more accurate location is Loon Creek, Trail Creek, Grouse Creek of the Frank Church. They also have had fires which burned about 40,000 acres from Aug-Sept. of this year.
Any information about hunting this part of Idaho is appreciated.

You should have a good hunt. You could/should have a V ERY GOOD hunt. Mid November = mule deer should be moving due to weather and rut. I would VERY much like to know how you do. I am considering putting in for Unit 26 next year - late hunt, mule deer. I have hunted Unit 27 for Bighorn Sheep. In general the big game in 27 have taken quite a beating from the wolf intro - and as a result - major big game depletion. However, you will have the weather, rut, and an outfitter working in your favor.

I assume you will fly in. If you are not familiar with the country - get used to it by climbing up and down road embankments. I assume you are in at least nominal shape and your buttocks can take some horse riding. Take extra boots, camera, maybe an extra gun - whatever your outfitter recommends. Forty thousand acres burned is nothing compared to the vastness of the FC. Your outfitter will manuever around it - if it is even an item. The FC is simply MIND BLOWING country.

I was in 27 in May. Saw lots of mule deer and found some really nice sheds too. Good luck! I look forward to seeing some pics of your hunt.

nice pics S.H. and some great stories on your hunting in 26/27. I will take some pictures and post when I return.
I may have to start working out twice a day now that I look at the roughness of the area.
