Remington fails at customer service

Last month we were called to go on a turkey depredation hunt(we had signed up for them).  Scruffy needed more shotgun shells so we went and bought a brand new box.  On the 1st day of the hunt, he had a few chances to shoot but the shells would not fire, nothing but "click".  3 of the first 5 shells did not fire(and no it was not a gun malfunction).   We called them-no one even answered the phone.  We sent Remington an email and received an "automatic response" with an incident number.  After that -nothing.  I was on Facebook and looked up Remington there.  I wrote on there site about the problems that we were having and someone there gave me a different phone number and another email address.  So I called that number and surprise, surprise, no one answered that phone.  I emailed the other email address and nothing.  After they told me that they did not receive my email, they finally found it.  It had gone into the spam filter.  What kind of company has customer emails going to spam?  I was finally called by one of the customer service people and he said that he would send out some replacement product express shipping, and send a return label so they could check out the faulty product.  It took a month before the replacement shells were delivered(not express), but I got the return label in 3 days.  Ignoring customers, not keeping their word and just telling disgruntled customers what they want to hear is not the way to keep customers.  We'll never buy any of their products again.

I haven't given up on them

I haven't given up on them completely yet but I'm hearing more and more stories of poor customer service and quality control lately.

My experience

My experience with them, dealing with them twice about 4 years ago, is that they no longer have anyone working customer service who actually knows anything about guns.  They simply know how to stall and brush-off with non helpful answers, that's about it.  To me a company with good custmer srevice should have people who are actually interested in finding you an answer or helping you out.

I had a Remington customer service rep tell me after explaining a failure to eject problem on my new 870 Express to him that guns have to be broken-in first. I said, every gun coming out of that factory should be ejecting pretty consistantly, if not there's something wrong.  It's like he was just trying to get me off the phone without helping me at all.

I'm pretty much done with remington.  I own and love the Remingtons I have and bought prior to 2001, but haven't been pleased with anything I've seen in the last few years.  I see way too many flaw lately in their guns brand new right on the shelf.

Thanks for the heads up, i

Thanks for the heads up, i havent had to call there customer no service before. The one I'm having problems with is PSE. i've been having a problem with my bow since i bought the darn thing with about every 25 or 30 shots my serving on the cable where it goes around the draw length moduel seperates and needs to be re-served. I have been told by there reps that its normal on all bows and just slide the serving over the cable. I'm not an idiot and some seperation may be normal over time but not after 25 shots. i put brand new string and cable set on it less than a year ago and brought my bow in to get it reserved like i do every month and my damn string has to be replaced because its now cutting the string. I'm very mad at the lack of help or support for there products. I'll never buy another PSE product again. My local shop has checked and re checked for sharp edges and such, they can only come up with its a cam lean issue.

i have had a similar problem

i have had a similar problem with both remington premier turkey loads and remington copper solid deer slugs. i had a box of 5 slugs and 3 of them failed. luckily, the first one loaded in my bolt action marlin worked and dropped the deer, i reloaded for a follow up, nothing, 3 times in a row. and the last one i aimed at a stump... because the first one did it's job. man, that was kind of lucky.

i have switched to winchester turkey loads, and the perform well, and pattern about as well as far as i can notice.

sorry about your luck with remington. you never know if you caught that one bad employee on just the right day. i work with tons of unreliable people.

My last Remington rifle was

My last Remington rifle was not defective in any way just not up to the quality standards I had seen in the past. Poor fit and finish and the worst trigger I have ever felt on a Remington 700. I replaced it but those are expenses you should not have to deal with.

As far as shells go I used some of the new hyper steel with great results on my crane hunt last year with no failures of any kind. But I did have a golden .22lr get lodged halfway down the barrel of my sons semi auto just before he fired the next shot. Fortunately it only blew the magazine out but we will not be using any more of those. CCI is the best stuff in most of my .22's

Update

I sent back the shells that did not fire and Remington sent a letter that the dimples in the primers wasn't deep enough and that the shotgun was at fault.  Not possible, because they were not only shot from Scruffy's gun, but a couple of newer shotguns.  They just don't want to admit they have faulty product.  We'll never buy anything Remington again.
