Remington 870 Wingmaster 12ga. Pump

Im looking at purchasing a Rem 870 Wingmaster 12ga. Pump. Just wondering if anyone else uses this model and what they think about it. The one that I have been looking at has a synthetic stock, not sure if a wood stock would be better in terms of recoil or if makes any difference.

the wingmaster is a very good pump gun.the only word of caution is to make sure it is the wingmaster and not the express.the express action is not near as smooth.as for the recoil on the wood v.s. synthetic no difference. good luck

Are you sure it is a wingmaster and not SPS? I thonk the wingmaster only comes in a wood stock model but I could be wrong. All the 870 are good guns but make sure the price reflects the quality.

Ditto on the wood stock. I've never known wingmasters to come in anything but wood. The gun is marketed as a higher-finish product, and not so much as a workhorse. If somebody's selling you a synthetic-stocked wingmaster, you might want to do some checking.

I will know more about the shotgun today. I have only spoken to the fella on the phone about it. I am going to see it today. Thanks for the info so far, kinda gives me a heads up on what to look for and ask before I decide to buy or not.

The way you can tell the difference is that the finish on the wingmaster is better. Also if you take off the barrel, the wingmaster has a tongue that sticks into the action (just like the Rem 1100) while the Express does not..PC

The 870 is a great shotgun that is always reliable. I have seen them dropped in the duck blind and full of mud and still finish off the day. Its a great all arround gun that will get the job done.
