Need more info. What type of 870 is it (express, sps, wingmaster, etc.)?

Bingo. The stuff you see in the display is the stuff they move a lot of. You can order just about anything you want out of catalogs they keep behind the counter (hunter porn), and they've got some great prices. That's how I bought my last two rifles. Not that I'm plugging Wally World, mind you -- it's just one of those things not many people realize.

But back to the question -- I'd think the 870 might be worth more than a hundred bucks, but not by much. You can get a brand new express for about 250 no problem. There's so many of them out there and new ones are so readily available -- that keeps the used market down.

Reconbabe, yes you can. In West Plains, which is about an hour from me, you can get Rem 700 BDL, BDL SS, and CDL's, which all will run you at or over $600. The have Weatherby, Winchester, Savage, Ruger, Sako, everything you could want. And the same goes for shotguns.

well here in denver, where we have a gander mtn, and a sportsmans warehouse, not to mentiion a cabelas 3 hrs away, and soon to be a bass proshops down the road, and also another cabelas is being built on the other side of town, Walmart must not feel the need to stock anything other than the basics in gun selection.

That particular Walmart would be a minority then, because just about anywhere you'd be going in this country, there's a Walmart close by, and chances are they have a very good selection of hunting firearms.
