Remington 700 question

Good morning everyone! I'm very new here and have been looking for a good hunting forum to join. I'm looking at purchasing a new deer rifle. I'm seriously thinking about the Remington 700 SPS Stainless in the 7mm. I'm curious though, does anyone know if I can change the black stock to a camo one? I've been looking all over the net for an "SPS Camo stock" without ANY luck. Then, I did some reading on the rifle and discovered it's built like the BDL version. Will I have to get the BDL stock and will it fit? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Yup, make sure you get the one that says "fusion technology" on the can (I think all of the krylon camo colors come that way now). It works a lot better on the 'plastic' type of stocks. If you don't like it it will still strip off with the orange type of stripper.

Remington is absolutely correct. Krylon does a nice job. Here's a pic of a Savage 243 cal done with Krylon.

As for your original question, the SPS does take any stocks designed for a BDL. Pretty much all 700s are the same, except long vs. short action, but the stock makers still use the original ADL (no floor plate) and BDL (floor plate) lingo.
You can either by a blued Buckmasters with the camo stock already on it, or the new XHR (see 09 catalog) with camo stock, rust resistant coating and triangular barrel.
And thats a pretty cool camo job with spray paint.

I'd like to thank everyone for their response/input. I don't have the patience to paint it myself and I would like it to look nice. Yes, that's an awesome paint job, but way too technical for me. I think I'd rather purchase the camo stock.

I just rebuilt my 700 ADL. new Hogue stock, Timney trigger,ADL-BDL conversion kit from Brownells= sweet Didn't bother with the camo. It looks like a black stick, blends in with all but dry grass.

BDL is for hinged floorplate. ADL is for blind (no) floorplate.
