Remingto Mod 700 25-06 with "bull barrel"

I went into a pawn shop today, and there was a very clean mod 700, with fancy walnut and black-tipped forearm. I'm asuming it was a BDL, but the forearm was tapered more like an ADL. Had hinged floor plate, also. The gun had excellent rifling, and a thick target-type barrel on it. Had base and rings, but no scope. On a scale of 1-10, condition was 8-1/2 to 9. They offered me the gun for 350.00, but I had the wife with me, so I declined. Was this a "steal"?

Thanks for the advice. I absolutely don't need a gun like that.. Y'all made me thankful that I didn't get it. Since most of my deer hunting is done around a swamp, I think the next rifle I purchase needs to be a short, light-weight brush gun, like the Ruger Deerfield carbine, or something similar. Thanks again.

I had several 600 Rem's. The last was a 660 in 308 Win, 20" barrel and a 2 3/4x scope. My son has it now but it was one of my favorite hunting rifles and would fit right in where you want. Don't know if you can still find a Feather weight win mod 70 but I have one of those in 6.5x55 that is great. I have picked up a few of the really light rifles and didn't really care for them. Had a Rem mod 7 and it was a disaster. Didn't shoot well at all and just to short and light for me.
