Recording Deer

I live in Michigan and am gearing up for deer hunting season. Well, I just purchased a Go Pro Hero 2 camera and absolutely love the qualtiy and being able to capture all the action, & my friend uses a contour roam but i think my videos are better quality with the hero2, Problem is my friend dropped it and scratched the lens. go pro said they would not warranty it but would only give me a small discount on a new camera. I dont want to buy a new one as I just spend money on this. Anybody ever have this issue? Any help would be appreciated!!

Thanks!!

They may not warranty it but

They may not warranty it but did you ask them if they could replace the lens? Also depending on the size of the scratch I have heard of people getting some real fine polishing compound and polishing it out. If you are careful you may not distort the lens too much and will still be able to use it. You may want to check with a camera shop and see what they would recommend.

Thanks for the help~I

Thanks for the help~I actually ended up getting avdice form a friend and they refered me to mike @ragecams and they had a original wide stock lens & other fish eye views for both model gopro cameras. they said they could install it
for me if i sent them in my camera, and also said they would discount the service fee of shipping it back, which is great sincew i dont' want to spend any more money than absolutely neededme so im going to give ot a try i
guess, it will be much cheaper than buying a new camera.
thought i should share with everyone!

SAVED!!!I just received my

SAVED!!!I just received my gopro hd hero camera back from ragecams, dennis was really helpful in helping me select the right lens for my needs, i went with the 4mm & its working great and no more fish eye effect, bending corners of the video, or distortion, rage cams did it in 1 day and shipped it back to me fast, life is good!! Dennis told me the camera has been modified so i can now change lenses without taking the camera apart also and macro focus, whatever that meant LOL, so i did some research on macro focus. but not sure i need a different lens. He also said hero3 was coming out before xmas, and he was gonna give me a smoking deal, so i think i may sell me hero2 if the hero3 is gonna be a major upgrade to the hd2, in the mean time back to filming my craziness! I did a search and found the 4mm lens doing a macro focus that i though was really neat on a green grasshopper and gave me some kool ideas check this out.
