Same here. I really thought

Same here. I really thought I was going to be farther into my deer allowance by mid November... but they tell me that is why it is called hunting! I passed on 4 small doe and a button buck yesterday because I was waiting for one of the larger 3 doe and that 8 point to come down off of the higher field 100 yards away... but they didn't. My plan is to hunt the 1st three days of gun season and put me back on track with a nice buck and at least another doe.

Since my Kentucky buck tag

Since my Kentucky buck tag has been punched, I went back out with the M/L on the last day of early M/L in Tennessee. I'd only seen several small bucks at the river property I hunt, but finally got a look at the mature buck that had to have made the rub line I sit near. Unfortunately, he saw me first, ran out the backside of the overgrown field I was overlooking and then paused 3 times to stick his tongue out at me.( I cannot shoot a deer behind me) I went back for opening day of rifle, the very next morning. A promising 5 pnt gave me a show for 15 mins working the rubline and making 3 new scrapes, but nothing else showed. Back in the afternoon I saw the 5 point that had tried to commit suicide in the AM and he did the same thing in the PM, plus a doe. No luck for me for good bucks as the 1st rifle weekend in Tennessee ends, but I can hunt the next week as well!!

Still looking for horns!

Early PA and NY bow seasons passed with just a few does now getting into rifle season and haven't seen anything even some what decent. Getting close to the time to get get a little less picky.

Okay gun season is over so

Okay gun season is over so have you gotten anything yet with your bow? I took a nice sized doe over the weekend. I'm going back out tomorrow/Wednesday to take my Colorado elk hunting partner on their 1st whitetail bow hunt. Then I'm going back out Friday with bow, Saturday and Sunday with shotgun, and then Monday thru Wednesday with bow. A lot of hunting but just looking to put 1 more doe in the freezer.

Gun Season Success

I finished my Ohio gun season hunt yesterday. Opening day 45 minutes into it I shot a nice doe. The next two days I focused on getting a nice buck. I passed on several smaller ones (2, 4, 6 points) and settled on a very nice 8 point buck. I never saw the non-typical buck nor any of the 10 pointers. Maybe next year for me. Dad is holding off until he gets that non-typical in front of him one more time. Here are two more 8 points I pulled of the trail camera.... I still have archery season and a couple more doe tags.
