Yes I agree no more than a

Yes I agree no more than a 16" spread on this one. Just discussed with my 2 brothers that we not shoot any buck at 8 points or smaller this year. Dad has several 8 pointers - at least 4 on his property that we have seen on trail cams but we really would like to see them next year with 9+ points and a 20"+ spread. But if the season is ending and I don't have a buck I may just shoot this one! Thumbs up

Wisdom and Patience

Wisdom and Patience  are things that come with age and I completely lack all the above. I would kill him and be thrilled Big smile My dad's place in NEPA I'll be looking for something over 16"  but here in NY I'm less picky mainly because I hunt on state game land that is heavily hunted. I'm past the brown its down phase but haven't matured to the point that I'll pass anything smaller than a trophy.

I never had a thing for that

I never had a thing for that wisdom and patience thing! At 50 years of age I can't wait for that trophy so at the end of the season and I don't have that 9+ pointer then this one becomes my buck for the year... as long as I can find him after I had passed on him previously!

I am basically 9 days and a

I am basically 9 days and a few hours away until I will be on stand. Besides checking over all my equipment and making sure I have everything ready to go here is what my schedule will be like over that time frame. Target practice Thursday, check camera's on Friday. More target practice on Saturday and Monday. Target practice and check camera's on Next Thursday. Then, I will be in the stand about 6:20 AM, Saturday the 29th!!!!!! I'm not real sure what stand I will be in yet but depending on what I see or don't see on the camera's that may dictate where I sit. Good luck this season to all my fellow hunters and team mates!!!!!

Just got back from clearing 4

Just got back from clearing 4 more atv trails at Dad's place. The last trail crosses an old logging road where there is a deer stand that nobody has been in for years. There I found a lot of deer sign - I mean a lot. Plus a HUGE rub. So now I too do not know exactly where I will be next saturday morning at 6:20am. Going back down Sunday and then again Tuesday. I will decide Tuesday when I see what the trail cam shows that is leaving the sign and making that huge rub. Good Luck to ALL on your hunts! Yes

That is not the end, it is just the beginning. I have six tags to fill. I also can help my kids and my wife as well. There is plenty of hunting to be had this fall!!!!!

Practice makes perfect

I was practicing like crazy last year all the way to 50 yards even though I would never actually that far and then I shot my buck about  8 yards away smile
