Good luck on your next trips

Good luck on your next trips out and it's good that you at least were able to lacate some. I applied on range this year as everyone knows but did not consider applying off range as fron what I have read it can be a very discouraging situation if they are not around. Considering what I have to pay for a non resident license I don't want to take that chance. I'll just keep trying the on range unless I learn a lot more about them.

Do you hunt the east side or

Do you hunt the east side or the west side of the off range for Oryx?  I had the hunt last year this time of year and hunted the westside and missed 3 shots.

If I were a non res I would

If I were a non res I would probably stay with the on range because of the greater # and confinement of them.

We started at Tularosa and went north, didnt see a track on the east side and that is where he got one in 09. By 7pm we were at the north end of the stallion range. On the 4th we started down the west side and found fresh tracks in the rained on sand at 9am. Looked like we were about 3 hours behind them.Never saw one but we at least know where there is some activity now.

My son got his Jan 2010 on the Stallion about a mile from where we found all the activity so hops are high foe the next trip.

keep us posted!

Keep us posted as your hunt develops, I'll likely not get a shot at oryx for a few more years.

don't wait to long to put in

don't wait to long to put in you never now when they deside to shut down the hunt on the WSMR.  they have talked about it in the past.  If you ever put in for the on range hunt put in for the Rhodes Canyon hunt.  to me it is the better of the two ranges.  lot more place to glass from.

I didnt get to go this

I didnt get to go this weekend, my son-in-law took his dad with him and it sounds like he had a good hunt. He got himself a young cow this afternoon. Dancing I dont know much about it yet but will post some pics and the story when I get em.

He did text me yesterday that they had seen 3 oryx on range so no chance at em, 1 elk calf, 4 deer, several antelope. They were hunting on the west side of the stallion the last I herd.

I finally the son-in-laws

I finally the son-in-laws pics. This is his 34" cow he got on the 17th south of Bingham. He took him with his 300 WSM, that is the 3ed oryx that gun has taken down.
