What is the deal with rangefinders? I am looking for a rangefinder that is affordable and will perform well out here in the west. I hunt in Colorado and New Mexico, I often am looking up hill,downhill, and through trees. I need one that is accurate and will reach out at least 500 yds. Anyone happy with the one they are using? I have heard to stay away from bushnell, any help would be great.

There are lots to choose from
There are lots to choose from today and many compensate for the angles. I have a Bushnell yardage pro and I am happy with it. I suggest going to Cabela's website and look at what they have to offer and read the customer reviews. That will get you started in narrowing down your selection. Keep in mind that advertised distance rarely matches in-field distance. I went to Cabela's and just handled and looked through all they had for my price range before buying one.
