A lot has changed for both men and women. By women taking on more of what has been perceived as "men's" responsibilities, it has lightened the load for many men. Many women earn as much as men.

I'm ready for a viable capable woman for president. Unfortunately, Hillary would not be my first choice.

Women's independence has been good for men and women! But we still have a long way to go. Though women have made great strides in the work place, they still are not 100% on equal footing with men when it comes to equal pay & promotions. There are still many industries where women have not gained the respect they deserve.

And BTW, I felt just as independent in 1988 as I do now. I personally feel less has changed in the last 20 years than it did in the previous 30-50 years.

The more I think about it and look around the more I really can't blame women for wanting to do something for themself. There has been raised a couple generation of guys who simply don't take the initiative, don't take the leading roll in the family, aren't self sufficient, expect to be taken care of. Men these days have left a complete void and like every void, it has to be filled somehow. I see it every single day with some guys I work with. I see it with my younger brothers friends. I saw it a lot with some of the guys I associated with when I was single. There's a few generations of guys who just never had the proper upbringing and direction when they were young men. Lets face it, there have been a lot of negligent fathers currently and in the past that have contributed to this. You couple that senerio with all the female empowerment tv shows, magazine articles, and books, and influence and it's inevitable that women will want to become bold. A lot of guys aren't doing guy things, so women feel the need to do them.

Personally it has never bothered me that women want to do guy things, or take initiative to do things for themselves, so long as they can still be a lady.

I think some of the things I mentioned are done by women because they're fun to do. Kudos to them for doing it.

You're right about some guys. They need to step up or get left behind.
