Rainy Day Bird

I finally got a day to go hunt by myself, nobody else wanted to go because of 3 days of rain. Nothing against hunting with someone, but sure is nice to go out solo once in a while. Not sure what to expect after all this rain, I went out and got the double bull and decoys set up in the rain and as luck would have it the rain quit as soon as I got settled in. I could hear hens on roost right in front of me and then 6-7 gobblers a long ways off. After talking to the hens for several minutes 3 gobblers sounded off with the hens. I was pretty excited until I saw them fly off roost in the opposite direction. As several hens were still on roost I continued to call to them and after they flew down and milled around for 20 minutes I finally spotted them coming my way, and they had attracted a couple toms. They all came in to about 20 yds and I picked the biggest. 3 of the hens had beards. The moral of the story is to hunt whenever you get the chance, regardless Big smile
