Tennessee has allowed rifle hunting as long as I can remember Hunting Accidents are very rare in south central tennessee and the northwest Georgia Regions and there are a lot of rifle hunters in this area however we do have some areas that are restricted to use rifles and we also have a lot of bow only sections due to dense human population,
we are very vigialiant about Hunters sagety programs here in the south which contributes very little hunting accidents.

sorry I cant tell you anything about the rest of the state or give you any ststs however we have for the most part very safety minded hunters.

Im kind of late with this, but you could use rifles in TN for as long as I can remember. Its perfectly fine. The way I see it, there should not be many accidents as long as you are sure of what you are aiming your rifle at.

Yup,your right,no reason for accidents unless hunting in areas where theres lots of population.Make no sound shots Make sure it is the game animal,and clean shot. I'm glad we don't have that problem up north here in N.S. it will be another 100 yrs before we have this trouble,remember you guys are 100 yrs older then us.
"I was born 100 years too late" Just wondering what ever happened to the idiot that shot those 6 hunters in WV ? I haven't heard any news from my buddies down there for awhile,they were waiting for postings I think maybe their in Iraq.

I also don`t see there being a problem with using rifles to hunt deer.I see a bigger problem using shotguns.So many people just spray and pray around here.They know the limitation of there shotgun shooting slugs and think the 5 round burst will up there odds of hitting somthing.

The bill that will alow rifles has been removed from the venue due to the new sessionThey will have to re introduce the bill for a vote.So many people that have used shotguns for years have a problem with using Rifles here in Western New York.They think rifles are a Lazer Beem that will cut through the woods and kill kids standing at the bus stop.I have also heard the Anti Hunters have fought this bill and add all the hunters that are opposed to the idea I think this bill is dead.

I wish I had an answer for ya,

All I can say is,when a father starts bringing his youngster along to hunt, is taech him SAFTY,and ONLY ONE SHOT IS ALL THAT IS NEEDED.

Think safety always,half the trouble is a lot of hunters are afraid in the woods from reading some very wild hunting mags.then when they hear or think they seen something "All Hell Brakes Loose"lead flying everywhere :-? Thats where accidents take place.
We used to have hunting accidents in Nova Scotia every year and its not populated either,just hap hassard afraid Youngsters. The DNR,Hunting Clubs came up with a "Strict Safety Hunter Program" not just for youngsters,but for everyone.Before you can buy a hunting lic.or ammo etc. you have to show your hunter safety card.Its a week long course and it covers everything,have to do a demo on firearms safety,crossing fences etc.etc.written test before they issue the hunter safety card.

We haven't had any hunting fatalities in N.S. for years thank God !!
