Sep. 12th 5:30 PM my best mule deer buck to date was taken. I spotted him with three other bucks and stalked him up a hellaciously steep draw. The combo of adrenaline and the steepness of the climb had me stopping more then once to deep breath and regain my composure to be able to get it done when the moment came. I got to within 150 yards and dropped him with one shot into the neck. He folded like a sack of potatoes and rolled about 50 yards the draw. Gutting him up there was a bit of a challenge but dragging him down was easy we where we were able to quarter him and pack him out the next day. I used my new Remington Genesis with 105 grs of Triple Seven a 270 gr Powerbelt and Remington clean bore primers. Saw two bears but wasn't able to get a shot also was talking to at least four bulls trying to get one in for my dad. I had to get back for an appt. but he and my uncle are still up there. Wouldn't doubt if they get a bull today. I'll be heading back up Friday afternoon. I passed up one two point buck, two three point bucks, and a smaller four by opening day and Sunday morning. Patience paid off in this case!
