PUBLIC LAND DUCKS??

Some good hunting to be had right here in Alabama, try Mud Creek wma or Wannville in Jackson county,I've heard good reports coming out of the Mobile/Tensaw delta region, Mallard-Fox Creek wma near Decatur used to be a favorite of mine, If you dont mind 300 mile trip Arkansas is in my opion the way to go. Lots and lots of public ground. Personally I spend most of my time in N.E. Arkansas between the end of Nov. and end of Jan., when I'm not deer hunting that is.

SNOWMAN do you hunt public or private land in Arkansas. I was looking at maybe Arkansas or Mississippi for this winter.

As for the ducks around here were loaded with wood ducks on Choccolocco Creek and the Tallapoosa river over in cleburne county. Just not any big flocks of mallards( least not that I've found)

public, generally. St. Francis river, although it's not as hot as some public ground by far, I would recommend Bayo Meto or Rainy Break. Lots of good hunting on the Cache and Black rivers too. If it's a one time trip, I would recommend finding a guide to maximize you opportunities. I have a passion for the d.i.y. myself but if your not familiar with the area it could take alot of precious time to learn your way around that could be spent in the blind. Please note that in most places a guide cant guide on public land (or maybe it's just w.m.a.'s) in Arkansas. I know one guide in the Jonesboro area that I would recommend, world campionship calibur caller and a great guide. He , as most guides, hunt fields mostly. This is usually done from pit blinds. Alot of people enjoy this style of hunting altough it's not something I'm crazy about personally.

you should hunt the tributaries leading out to the gulf. You can shoot plenty of mallards as well as a good mixed bag.

I hunted with a buddy from LA. Had good action on the ducks, and caught some nice reds after the morning shoot.
