Pronghorn Scouting Trip Dream

So I just got back from scouting for pronghorn and it was the exact opposite of my mule deer scouting nightmare! I found over 25 bucks... one or two 1st/2nd day shooters and three 3rd-6th day shooters. The rest would work for a last day buck.

I was kind of caught off guard by the lack of fawns seen in the doe groups. I got a couple good pictures but made a big mistake. The first buck we saw was with a group of 12 does and ended up being the biggest one we'd see during the whole trip. I was too busy trying to score him that by the time I got around to taking a picture of him, he was running away trying to catch up with the does that decided they had enough of our company.

We also got to watch a Swift fox catch a prairie dog... then a coyote take it away... then the pronghorn does chase both of them off. You can see the tiny fox being chased off by a doe in the 2nd picture.

Looks like you had a great

Looks like you had a great scouting trip this time. That's the nice thing about antelope as there is usually not as much stress involved to find them. I'm not saying it's easy to find good ones but they are easy to spot if thier out there.

I would definately take some of the ones in the pictures. Good job and good luck, it's getting closer every day. It seems like summer just got here and we're on the slide out already.

Glad to hear this trip went

Glad to hear this trip went more smoothly than your deer scouting trip.  Looks like you definitely found some shooters, atleast by my standards.  I would think about taking the little guy just because his horns are kinda unique.  Thanks for sharing the pictures.

great pictures

Tell me about the spotting scope and camera setup too.  Those last couple are some of the best spotting scope captures I've ever seen

Spotting scope is that dandy

Spotting scope is that dandy Nikon that I won in last falls BGH contest (that thing is awesome!!!) and the camera is my girlfriend's Nikon digital point and shoot. Other than my bow, which has turned out to be a dead on beauty to shoot... that Nikon is by far the best thing I took home in that contest.
