So help me out, what's the point? I kinda figure that if you're bowhunting them using decoys, you can see the antelope, they can see you. And they'll either come or they won't based on visual cues, not auditory. I always used calls (but not on antelope) when deer or elk didn't see me or me them or I was calling blind into something thick.
How do they react to the call?
they react no differently than a bull elk hearing a call, they come and investigate. Antelope are very curious creatures. I really cannot explain what the Antelope think when you call to them because I have never heard them make the sound that you use. But never the less calling to them works even without a decoy.
I've been using the Primos Buck Buster Antelope call......it is a weird sound but I've had a couple of nice bucks run off with his does and as soon as I call on it, they turn their does back towards me. I haven't been successful ONLY because of the number of does I've been seing with these 2 bucks!!! They've started to gather their does pretty early up here in the high country of Colorado above 9000 feet........I'll keep you posted.
As a Taxidermist I look at hundreds of Whitetail Bucks every year. I know that I have seen many different ways people judge the size of racks on live deer. I think for the most part they all are pretty close. I'm going to give you some measurements that I have noticed being right on in just about every deer. We have used it in the last couple years and have only been off by about 5-6 inches. We do study the deer while bowhunting so we get a little more time to look at them....
