So help me out, what's the point? I kinda figure that if you're bowhunting them using decoys, you can see the antelope, they can see you. And they'll either come or they won't based on visual cues, not auditory. I always used calls (but not on antelope) when deer or elk didn't see me or me them or I was calling blind into something thick.
How do they react to the call?
they react no differently than a bull elk hearing a call, they come and investigate. Antelope are very curious creatures. I really cannot explain what the Antelope think when you call to them because I have never heard them make the sound that you use. But never the less calling to them works even without a decoy.
I've been using the Primos Buck Buster Antelope call......it is a weird sound but I've had a couple of nice bucks run off with his does and as soon as I call on it, they turn their does back towards me. I haven't been successful ONLY because of the number of does I've been seing with these 2 bucks!!! They've started to gather their does pretty early up here in the high country of Colorado above 9000 feet........I'll keep you posted.
I have always looked for ways to save money and gain skills. I have the firearms basics covered so I rarely buy firearms these days. But I do watch for bargains. Sometimes a little TLC with simple tools will let you bring an old gun back to life without investing a lot of money. One such find was a side by side 12 gauge marked “W. Richards” It is not from the fine English gun maker Wesley Richards, it is a cheap knock off copy probably made in Belgium about a hundred years ago...
