Problem at the shooting range today PLEASE HELP

Don't kick yourself for it not working, either. It is not easy the first time. The first gun I ever sighted in was my 7mm-08, and it was a pain in the ass, to be frank. Took me two attempts, actually. It was hitting fairly well after the first attempt, at 100 yards, but then at 200 it was hitting a foot to the right. Took the whole scope, mount, bases, everything off and started all over again.

If you can get it to hit the target at 100 yards, you've got a route mapped.

Problem at the shooting range today PLEASE HELP

wow..I've never had an experience like that in my shooting life.
Example; purchased 270WSM shadow and Leupold VX-1 3x9 had scope installed and bore sighted by real professionals. brother bought exact same gun and scope. We went to range shot one round each at 100 yards to see where the bullet flew clicked scope as appropriate and zeroed to dead on bullseye at 100 yards. Clicked a little more and was now zeroed to 2" high at 100 Yards....right where we wanted to be we shot a total of 7 rounds each and the last 3 was just for fun. Wish I could help you but it just seems to me something is very wrong here. But without being there it's hard to tell. Some gun shops or sporting goods don't know how to do a good bore sight though.
I have seen the difference between those that know and those that don't. My brother took his rig to be bore sighted a few years ago and the idiots didnt even get it close. Took it to the professionals that we now use and BINGO!
You would be surprised how somebody can screw up a bore sighting.

Problem at the shooting range today PLEASE HELP

Went to the range today and zeroed another new 30-06 rifle at 100 meters. Here's how I did it:

* 1 shot at 25 meters and major scope adjustment. No shots to confirm adjustment.
* 3 shots at 100 meters and major scope adjustment.

15 minute break

* 3 shots at 100 meters with minor scope adjustments for 2" high zero.
* 1 shot at 25 meters to see where POI was for short range (1/4" low)

Results: 1 1/8" MOA at 100 meters with 30-06 Remington 700 SPS, 24" Stainless barrel and Limbsaver Recoil Pad. After barrel is broke-in, should be an under MOA shooter. Rifle was stock, except for trigger job down to 2 3/4 lbs and precleaning right out of the box. These were the first 8 shots fired in this rifle.

Time: 45 minutes
Ammo: 8 bullets - Federal Premium 180-gr. Nosler Solid Base

was the gun clean ? If the barrel is clean or not makes a differnce on 30-06 especially on longer shots.
