Primer shortage?

As you guys know I am new to reloading. I am now ready to rock with all my stuff and everything but I can't find primers anywhere! I've been to every gun store within 60 miles and large pistol primers (or any for that matter) are nowhere to be found. Even on line at Midway, Dillon and Cabelas they are backordered. Are all you guys experiencing this? I'm told their being bought up and horded out of fear of the new admistration. Thoughts? Sources?

Primer shortage?

Eh, yep,

This occurs every time the liberals come to power. The retailer shelves are swept clean of primers and many powders in anticipation of new taxes and laws limiting ownership in one way or another.

Judging from past experiences, they will be back on the shelves in the near future.

Primer shortage?

I'd been hearing about this and a week or so ago was into town and sw it.
wow, powder and primers nowhere to be found. I've got pretty much a lifetime supply of rifle and handgun primers. Don't have a need for small rifle so sold off about 4000 of them a couple weeks ago. But don't have a surplus of shotgun primers. Probably do have all the powder I'll ever need though. Got my stuff years ago.

We are seeing that shortage up here as well. It is a big concern with me. I have about 10000 small pistol primers left and have an order of 50000 on backorder. The 10000 will last me a couple of months max. and then I'm tapped out. I just put an order in for 16 lbs of titegroup powder but haven't heard anything about it yet. Practice will have to suffer to have enough rounds for the competitions. I was also told when I get the primers the price will be almost triple of last year. Brick Wall,) Brick Wall,) Brick Wall,)

Primer shortage?

I have a FFL and none of my suppliers have any in stock and most won't even take back orders. There still a few shotgun powders to be had but that's about it.

Same with loaded ammo, brass and most bullets.

It's like that here too, in Missouri. Everyone online is sold out with no backorders. Some places like Wideners are two weeks behind on orders and working non-stop not even accepting phone calls or orders. I asked at my gun shop today and they gave me a sarcastic "good luck finding them" when I asked if they had some or where I could get some. On my way home just out of desperation I stopped at a tiny ammo store clear out in the country. To my surprise they had primers AND powder!!!! The owner would only let me buy 500 small rifle primers, 600 large pistol, 500 large rifle, 1 pound bullseye YES 1 pound! and only 4 pounds of Varget. I'm still very new to reloading but still getting all my ducks in a row to get it going. This place told me they stock up every Tuesday so from now on I'm going to hit them up EVERY Wednesday morning for my 500 primers and 1 pound of powder

Gunbroker.com has several listings of primers the last few weeks.
