Press Hammers Gibbs for Prepackaged Questions

Priceless. Helen Thomas has covering politics from the White House press corps for just under 50 years. And she's hitting the Press Secretary for the administration's use of preselected questions and stacked audiences. When Helen Thomas says it's a shocking and unprecedented lack of transparency, it means something. And Chip Reid is from CBS -- hardly a conservative outlet. Even the media is starting to get it.

Actually what you are seeing is the old media throwing a hissy fit over being less and less relevant.

Morning pressers and regular press conferences have ad lib questions. Online "town halls" have tens of thousands of questions and even some video you tubes. Of all the entries they try to choose those that are the most representative or interesting. Kind of like at the debates when members of the audience ask questions.

Nothing at all like the infamous Jeff Ganon.

There's a big dust up over a Huff Post writer getting the second question at Obama's last press conference. Wapo through a crying fit on TV. The regular news outfits are losing their relevance and their salaries. Better, more honest, reporting is now available on line.

Every reporter in that room is being bypassed by the online town hall, you bet they're screaming.

Go Helen! Go girl!! Laugh

I'm not a big fan of Helen or Chip, but I'm very happy to see that the press is finally figuring it out. Geez - it took them long enough!

So far, the press has been scrambling to catch the crumbs from Obama's table. But at some point, the press will wise up and figure out that Obama needs them more than they need Obama.

Hillary can attest to what happens when the press decides its done carrying your water.
