Try sighting your rifle so it's an inch high and an inch low at the ranges you can call them in at. Hold steady and squeeze slowly. Tag them on the first shot.

If you constantly call loud they will pick you out, so you might try calling a little softer or using a lip squeak.

Are you using a rifle, shotgun or bow?

Hung up predators

You might try investing in one of those electronic decoys, it should work well on the cats. The reason the cats are hanging up is probably because you are calling in too open an area, and because they are visually oriented, they come in to the area where they hear the noise, once they figure out where the noise is coming from, they stop listening and start using their eyes. I was sitting up against a log this winter calling, and the only thing visible was the top of my stocking cap I was wearing, that was sticking up above the top of the log, I had a bobcat stalk in on me, and I think he was watching the top of my hat move around every few minutes, once he came into view, he was standing 5 feet from me watching my hand movement on the end of the mouth call.

Thanks for the tips. But i seem to be doin everything that yall said to do. I just bought a new foxpro game caller and its better then my old phantom caller. I start my call at low volume and after every minute or so i raise the volume alittle untell its al full out the start goin down. I have a livehart in my decoy that makes it move. i seem to be doing every thing right but its just the last 50 yard the predators hang up at. last christmas i called in a cougar about to 20 yards we thought i had winded us but and my huntin partner went to get the decoy and it was right there getting ready to get it and my partner forgot his gun with me at the spot we where calling from. But the cat was there and then he dissappeared and then he was there agin they are really sneekey little buggers we never got a shot off i could have once but i thought it was a deer the first time. so any way ill keep calling and hoplfuly have better luck next time.

Would it be possible to set up a tree stand on the edge of the cut and place your call on the ground?
