Pre -64 (1951) Model 70 Supergrade (pics)

All:

First, good evening. I have the opportunity to buy this rifle in 270 for $900. The stock has been cut and a Haskins recoil pad has been added. There is an Echo side mount in the receiver topped with an older Lyman Alaskan Scope. The scope reticle is very, very thin with a single black dot in the middle. I have provided pictures. Rest of rifle is about 80-85%. I believe it is a good deal. How about you? All the best...

Thanks for posting some pics, not everyday you see a supergrade.

I think what you paid is fair, from the pics and what you have written.

Advantages:

- Lyman alaskan (well regarded scope of the time)
- Super Grade
- Pre 64
- Looks to be well taken care of considering the age.

Disadvantages:

- Cut stock
- Mounting job (possibly a detractor depending on how it was done)

I think you could probably get your money back out of it fairly easily to the right buyer. The Lyman is a nice touch. If the stock was not cut, I would think it could go to the $1100 range possibly to the right buyer.
