Possible Wolf/Coyote attacking my dogs

There is either a pack of Coyote or Wolves that are hanging around my home. Myself and others that live in the area are worried about them being a threat to us.

I am planning on killing whatever they are myself but would like to know what laws and regulations I am up against.

Last night my small dog, shes part feist and part beagle, was in shock and covered in blood. We don't know if she will make it through the week. I have heard sound of animals in my front yard. They sound like Coyote but I've aslo heard what appears to be a Wolf howl.

I'm living near Hickory NC. Actually on the city's outskirts on the Catawba and Caldwell county lines. There is also a few small farms near us that raise cattle.

Can anyone provide links or phone numbers so I can recieve help or atleast learn what my rights are and what I need to hunt down and kill these bastards?

I'm not an experienced hunter.

probably coyotes, they are breeding this time of year and very aggresive. You have every right to kill them,if your in a rural area it might be tricky, dont wanna set jaw traps if there are pet dogs around. If you cant shoot them try to get a live box trap.

Thanks for the reply.
And yeah, I'll shoot them. I'll blow the GD heads off of them.

Time to get out my nightvision goggles and Mosberg Pump 12 guage.
I just may put my Long Sword to good use too

Do they stay in packs and if so what size?
Also, what are good locations for dens? Do they make them near creek beds, under large rocks, in the woods, out in the open, etc?

Are there any types of plants or sounds they dislike?
I mean, is there anything else I can do to deter them from coming back?

Regulations

I would suggest calling your local NC Wildlife commission office. The number here in Raleigh is (919) 733-4566. Ask them to put you through to enforcement and they will answer the question, or at least point you in the right direction. I am very confident that you can blast those things if you are not inside of the city/town/village limits. You have the right to protect your family and property.
Also, if you would rather, try the Wildlife Commission's web site.

Best of luck,

If you want to take care of them urself you can stake down a piece of bait(roadkill) just off your lawn, tie a piece of closeline to it,run that through a window and tie it solid in the house with a little bell near the end of it.Then either a spotlight or night vision goggles on hand sit and wait, you want to id the little bastards before you blast em.At that range a 12 guage with some lead #4 should work just fine, you may not drop em on the spot but you will get a piece of em and they wont be back!Worked for racoons that were gettin in my trash cans,i tied the line to the garbage can lid and set up a pair of worklights that I could plug in with an extension cord in the house, the little bell jingled,i plugged in the cord, there they were 3 of em like deer in the head lights!I blew one off the can before they could get away and tried for a second, all i got was a chunk of our porch,my parents wernt to impressed!!lol
