I couldn't help but notice he didn't deny the racist angle, didn't say cops aren't racist, etc. He regretting not wording it better. Oh, yeah...and we're overreacting. Move along...nothing to see here.

That was my thought exactly, when I first heard it. It also made me mad that Obama was trying to make light of what he said and then whitewash it with the "let's have a beer" statement.

Obama was wrong to even comment on this. He didn't have all the facts and to immediately chastise the police was stupid. He's mum about significant world events, and then opens his mouth about something that he has no business even commenting on.

Has anyone listened to any of the liberal talking heads about this? I caught some over the weekend and it appears they're all blaming the "radical right wingers" like Rush & Fox for supposedly blowing this all out of proportiion. Most claim it was no big deal, until the righties came unglued. It made me furious.

Notice that they're desperate to throw someone on the bus as the villain to take the heat off Obama. Can't go after the arresting cop, can't go after Gates...but you CAN go after the person who made the 911 call and a cop that used a derogatory term in an email.

Why on Earth was the question even asked to Obama. It had no relevence to the subject to begin with. And, had Obama not answered "stupidly" there would be no need for the expense of bringing all those guys together for a sitting down to a freakin beer. I can't believe everyone around this country took such an interest in this garbage. Don't people have better things to worry about. I just think this whole thing was silly.

Cudos to the good women who called the cops, they were just being good citizens. The cops were just doing their job as best they could with a totally uncooperative subject. SHAME on everyone else involved!!
