Polar bear hide question...

I read that limited polar bear hunting was allowed in Russia and I want to go for it…. But, does some one know is it allowed to import polar bear hides to USA? Think
Could you give me any links where I may read some more about custom limits for this kind of things… Thank you in advance!

I don't know positively but I believe you can bring the bear hide back.

I see hunts in Russia advertised all the time and I dobut they would be successful if you couldn't bring the hide back.

Also, the anti-hunters recently were unsuccessful in banning the importation of polar bear hides from Canada which would have killed polar bear hunts there. So, I believe it is legal to bring them back.

At present yes-- Canadian natives get tags also and can sell them to round eyes or use them them selves-- quite a few are sold to outfitters or natives guide non res hunters--it ain't cheap or easy-- Folks in Congress trying to stop the import of Polar bear hides and may very well succeed due to misinfo.

You'd better check -- the Secretary of the Interior just listed them as "endagered", and I think the new ruling says polar bear parts can't be imported.

Rules go back and forth depends upon who gets their way that day-- IE SCI or greenies-anyway cost is right around $30,000 for most hunts--natives get permits and can sell them on open market--must have guides etc.
