"Points" on the Bottom of a Post

I'm seeing them more and more on post that both I make and others make, so what are they used for?  Are they a mistake by somebody since they are next to the "FLAG AS OFFENSIVE" button?  Or is it somebody that doesn't like us here on the forum?

If it is for voting on how

If it is for voting on how helpful the post is then I can't see where you would vote of the post.  Unless I just can't see it.

post points

We didn't realize that having the points total so close to the "offensive" button could be confusing, but I can see now how that could be assumed. We'll have to look into moving it over a bit.

In each post box on the right is a small up/down arrow box. You can vote a post up or down depending on how useful or helpful the post is. It gives users an idea on what other people find helpful. If you have negative points, people are not finding it very useful. smile

And they say that you can't teach a old hunter new tricks.  Thumbs up

Thanks for the info.

Helps me too. I had no idea I could vote, or what those points were down there. Guess I should get with the program, LOL.

Thanks.

contest effect?

Do these vote up or down points have any impact on the points in our December contest at all?

Yes!

Mike -

I just discovered that by clicking on the UP arrow of a post, it increased my points by ONE.

I'm thinking that I don't want to try clicking the down arrow to see what happens - - why don't you try it and let us all know.    lol
