Planning our first diy colorado archery elk hunt

I'm co-host of a worldwide outdoor talk radio show called High and Wide Outdoors. Were planning our first diy elk hunt in Colorado this fall. Were probably going to use a drop camp if we can get one. Were very interesred in showing our fans that its possible to do this and hopefully have some success. Were looking at NW Colorado and have used our contacts in the PA Game Commision to call their Contacts in the Colorado division of wildlife to narrow our search to units around Steamboat Springs. We're in need of a drop camp service and any help you can offer. We will provide some great marketing and PR if were taken care of by honest reputable outfitters. Thanks for listening and your help and suggestions will be appreciated. Tnx Tay and Jack

It's awful late in the year

It's awful late in the year to just be trying to find something for 2013. The one outfit up there that I would have recommended is booked for this year and already booking both guided and drop camp hunts for 2014.

Limited draw?

Don't forget that most of the units that are popular in the northwest are limited draw for archery. Most people referring to hunting In the northwest mean units 12, 23,24,33 or 4. All of which are limited.

Also, you'll need a permit from the forest service for commercial video taping, which will cost a couple hundred bucks per day. Or it did when I last looked into it.

That being said, J bar H is a reputable outfitter and the owner is one of our wildlife commissioners.

If you were thinking about the flat tops or bears ears, you'll probably want to wait until next year, but there's lots of other places to go if you want to hunt this year.
