Place of shoot.

Hello friends, I always asking inconsistencies, to forgive therefore again by the inconveniences. Well, we suppose that we are hunting in Africa, and that our objective is the great cape buffalo. Ours arms is my rifle Ceska 550 Magnum of the caliber 375 H&H Magnum, munition with projectile of 300 grains or 350 grains (adequate for this hunt). I do not yet have the 458 Lott, I continue saving euro jejeje. The question is ¿where would place you the shot?. We will shot to the neck, to the shoulder, to the head. ..yo again I ask pardon by the inconveniences, but I I enjoy asking and moving the forum.

A greeting,

Oscar.

I would place it where my PH told me to place it depending on the situation. I think generally they shoot the shoulder if it is broadside, the chest if head on and the head if charging.

Thank you for your response CVC, but I had not thought about that I can ask the PH where I have to put the projectile. For a buffalo charging, I am of the view that a 375 H & H is unreliable and even something I would use more than 416. Thumbs up

Thank you,

Oscar.

you preferentially would like to place the first shot through the shoulder, as a broken shoulder or two is likely to limit the run time of a wounded buffalo. there is a good book on shot placement for african game but i am not able to bring the title to mind right now, which covers this subject very well. the heart generally lies a bit lower in african game than the various deer species so the behind the shoulder shot is not as good. a frontal chest shot can be taken if no broadside is available. i just got a muzzle brake put on my cz 550 in .458 lott and it is much more pleasant to shoot. unfortunately it now shoots 8 inches high and to the left so i will have to get a higher front post and drift the rear sight. good luck.

the book is--
the perfect shot by robertson k doctari

it is about $65.00 from cabelas and other book stores. it is cheaper to borrow one and read it closely. there is a mini version which covers mostly the biggest animals also.

Thanks, by your answer Thumbs up , what I tell is you that me your you give me envy, have the rifle of my dreams jejeje. Certainly ¿the backward movement of the 458 Lott shot with that rifle is so hard?, I when have bought the rifle I want to put him a corner piece Pachmayr Decelerator ¿Do you consider sufficient this measure to reduce the kick?

Thanks again,

Oscar.

the small version of the book, "the perfect shot", is only $18.00 and is a definite help if you go to africa.

my cz came with a pachmayer pad installed. it is about 1 inch thick. i may put another limbsaver slip on just to tone it up a bit and see what happens.

Thanks friend, I when have the rifle I will decide what I do. Now I have to save the money for a long time. I will enjoy with my rifle CZ of the 375 H&H magnum in some hunting in Spain. Thanks for all.

Books and Videos

There are a couple of good books and videos on this;

The Perfect Shot Africa - this is the bible on shot placement come in coffee table format, and a small pocket guide for in the field, there is also a DVD

Shoot Your Target - DVD covers dozens of species most all commonly hunted species in Africa

And if you want to see some "blood on your shoes" head shots check out Mark Sullivan's DVDs - a lot of people think he's crazy but he knows how to kill a buffalo.

Thanks, Mark Sullivan DVDs I already have, and it's really impressive. The other DVD I recommend that you try to find somewhere like Cabela webpage.

Many thanks and greetings,

Oscar.
