Pigs in Michigan: Shoot on sight!

This was posted in the pig section too, but I thought it was interesting what it said about Michigan.

Even though they only estimate about 6,000 pigs there, they must be afraid of them getting a foothold there.  They have instituted a "shoot on sight" order, meaning anyone with ANY type of license can shoot a wild pig if they see it.

Pretty cool.

I think most of the states

I think most of the states that don't have them are afraid they are on the way.

The guys in Texas say they can totally ruin a deer lease in pretty short time. I really enjoy hunting hogs but don't think I need them here in Colorado.

Some of the guys are probably pretty excited about getting a crack at them but I don't think 6,000 pigs is quite enough for me to jump in the truck yet and take off looking for them.lol

I'm up here in Michigan and

I'm up here in Michigan and one pig is too many with the damage and diseases they can spread to domestic stock.  That said, there is nothing more fun than hunting hogs and I did a lot of it down in Texas until my Dad ost his lease a few years ago.  I got back down there last March and got a nice eating size one the one weekend I was able to get out while visiting Mom and Dad.  That's me and Dad and the guy with the mustache is a buddy from near Houston who set our weekend hunt up south of San Antonio.

I think every state should

I think every state should have a shoot on site policy. I'm kinda surprised In california you need a tag, But i guess thats one way for the state to raise more money from its citizens. I feel for you CA_. Hopefully we can put a stop or slow down to the wild pig problem here in the country.

The way hogs are so prolific

The way hogs are so prolific at repopulating their species, the only way to halt their spread is both through shooting and very extensive trapping!!!

I have yet to see a pig out

I have yet to see a pig out here in Michigan, which I consider to be a good thing. Wouldnt mind getting a crack at one though, it would give me something else to use my smoker on!
