PIG HUNTING???

Yes I know there is, but I've never done it and would like to know more about it as well. Here's what little I do know from a little reading I've done. About 95% of pigs taken in CA are on private land. Tejon ranch (Grapevine/Bakersfield area) is one of the bigger private ranches to hunt on. Public land holds pigs but it sounds like they are harder to hunt or even locate. NorCal seems to have better pig hunting and more outfitters.

I am new to hunting and am trying to do it on a tight budget, So private ranches with a guided hunt are probably out of the question for me.

There's got to be some Bakersfield locals that know where to bag some pigs around there.

Ping Hunting

Same here...I love hunting and I'm from Northern California where pig hunting is a lot better but I'm stationed in San Diego. I can't afford to drive up there all the time to hunt...plus it's a long drive.

I'd like to hunt Tejon Ranch but I can't afford it...but there's got to be some public land around the grapevine area that holds pigs. I just got a new pig gun, a Marlin 444 lever action, that I want to try out.

PIG HUNTING???

As far as private ranches go, http://www.bighorncanyonranch.com seems to be the cheapest and closest. $350 per pig (1 is all I can fit in my freezer anyhow), open everyday, Only pay $50 if hunt is unsuccessful. It is in Riverside which is only 1.5 hours from SD or LA. I hear right now that the price may be negotiable due to slow business too, as low as $250 per pig. They have a bunch of exotics too. And over the phone the guy told me no license or tags required.
Still looking into public land....

PIG HUNTING???

I am new to the forum and hunting. Big Ant or anyone else, if you don't mind, can you tell me where to hunt for pigs in Northern California? I don't have the money to pay for private land so if you are willing tell me where to go on public land I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
