pics from the north

Hi there....I haven't posted much lately....and a picture is worth a thousand words...so here's my effort at catching up on things....

I hope you all had a safe and happy Fall Harvest season.

Here is pic of the moose my son (in pic) shot this year. My wife and he are packing the head out to the boat. He waited, upon strict instructions from his old man, to wait until that moose got to dry land. The moose dropped about 10 yard into the willows after nearly running us over in the boat.

Here's pic of a moose I called over to the camp....he was not shy! We didnt shoot him though...it was the day after my son shot his moose and the weather was quite warm.

Up in the back yard....a typical wall tent set....ok, maybe a little fancy but still fairly common

cheers,

Taku

That is truly awesome -- the first picture really sums up the moose experience. You need to take good care of that woman -- a wife that'll pack out a moose through thigh-deep water while you take pictures is definitely a keeper... Thumbs up

...thanks to all for the kind replies....

yes, we're very lucky indeed, and we acknowledge that fact on a daily basis.

It's not for everyone, but for the past 10-12 years, my hunts have become completely focused family events. Very common up here particularly within the the First Nation community - to which my wife belongs. It requires patience - which I run short of no doubt - but the opportunity to work with your children, teach them valuable skills on the land that translate into them being respectful teenagers within society is worth all the spooked caribou and moose etc.

never forget, the Yukon is covered in ice, we live in igloos, it's always dark, it's always minus 40, there are no trees and nobody in their right mind would want to live here let alone visit. Yes Whistling

Merry Christmas too all !!
