Jeff-

I wish it wasn't so wet for last year's antleope opener, Crissy got a nice 13 1/4" but we didn't get any field photos...... Anyhoo, doe tags- it depends on the year. Sometimes they don't offer any, sometimes 1, 2, or 5. The population is getting up there again, and they are offering doe tags this year but I don't know how many yet.
I was traveling home yesterday from NE montana, and a few miles this side of Winnett I saw one of the biggest speedgoads I've ever seen, he had to be close to 17"!!! He wasn't extremely heavy but he still made my jaw drop!!

Jeff-

You can get 1 either-sex tag in the drawing, this year you can buy surplus tags for doe/fawn in many areas. In my area we can buy 2 doe/fawn tags. Crissy and I each got 1 doe/fawn tag, so we'll see how lucky we are...... We'll only be hunting goats on the Sunday opener.

LOL!!! Laugh Carl, That brought back memories of one I saw, driving through New Mexico, I almost wrecked my car.....the wife let me know she didn't appreciate me almost killing her....just to look at a stupid antelope...that stupid antelope was a 18"+ buck if I ever saw one.... When you see them like that, you don't need to think twice before the crosshairs get leveled on his chest... Yes I'm thinking next year of applying for a buck speed goat tag in MT.

Nice picutres. I just got back after 5 days of antelope hunting in idaho unit 45. I have seen many goats but only got 80 yards away. I saw one of the biggest antelopes that I have every seen with a pronghorn that bent down and one that bent sideways. He was huge. I did a stalk on him and got about 90 yards. It was a great adventure, but like others have said, I am sore from the thorns, thistle and rocks that are embedded in my hands and knees. But boy is it fun.

Jeff,

Yeah, it's funny how wives don't have a sense of humor when they're staring death in the face........ lol A few years back, I missed a whale of a mulie and you know how you lose focus after such a letdown? Well we were driving off when I was spaced out, upset with myself for missing, when I happened to drive off an embankment...... It was only about a 15 foot dropoff, and the truck didn't really roll........ Oh, and there's the time I thought the ice over the creek was thick enough to drive over...... it wasn't. She reminds me almost daily that we had to walk 6.2 miles to get help..... Yes, she made me clock it on the odometer when we got out of that one.... That's just making memories, right? Part of the hunt? eye roll

Carl, I was reading your post and started laughing out loud Laugh . It sure is easier to laugh about things like that later on then when it's fresh.

tabthc, Thanks for sharing your hunt with us. Yes, those cactus and antelope hunting goes hand in hand don't they? Was your tag only good for bow or can you go back and hunt with a rifle later on? That is, if you even hunt with a rifle. Were you hunting over water or spot and stalk?
