With about 4-weeks to go before the start of the spring hunt, I have been looking and listening and I am sure you have too. After nearly 40-years of spring hunts for me, the gobblers seem more predictable each year, but I can't say that they are any easier to kill.
This year the places where they started the 2006 breeding season is the same location to start this year. I am still seeking an understanding or what controls the day to day travels. The one thing for sure is nothing is for sure! That is what makes it fun.
Safety, feed and breed seem to be the spring to do list for turkeys.
I have heard many gobblers. In early April they seem to be everywhere. I have not seen another scouter - yet! I have not heard another scouter calling - most of us have received the Memo: No pre-season calling!
Looks like this spring will be like many past springs. The only things that will set this season apart from the others will be equipment - calls, gadgets and camouflage patterns and of course, the outcome of the hunt!
Hunt safely and courteously!
I created and posted a blog at my website. I invite you to check it out.
