Pa is a big state. Where (what region) are you planning on hunting? What are youre expectations? What do you want to hunt for?

I'm not familiar with those WMU's but I would find some public land and look at the topo maps and find an area that is isolated in some way (by a river, steep mountain, far from road access) and look in there. Pa has been hammering the does in the last 4 or 5 years and you will need to look harder than was necessary in the past. I walked into a SGL today and most of the deer sign that I saw started being visible after we had walked 45 minutes and got around the backside of a large pond that was surrounded by marshy woods. Guys don't hunt that far back, thats why the deer were in there.

Those areas are mountainous with plenty of good game to hunt, however, to hunt effectively in these areas definitely calls for some good scouting and the use of Topo maps, especially if you plan on hunting deer. In areas like the ones in those WMU's I have found that you really need to get off the beaten path in order to find some good deer, especially the bucks. I have hunted those WMU's for Turkey during the spring and only once for deer and it can definitely be a challenge. Pennsylvania has lots of great hunting grounds, pick a couple areas, get some topo maps and learn as much as you can and do as much scouting as you can and don't be afraid to take the path less traveled by. Thats where the big boys are!!! Good luck!

I live and hunt the poconos and I mainly bow hunt deerbut I also rifle hunt .My advice is to stay in western pa.the poconos are so over run with ignorant hunters that stand 50yrds apart that it's hard to enjoy a day of hunting in this part of the state.

I own and hunt property in Wayne County, PA.....LOVE IT!!! Since three points on one side law came in effect the hunting has been so much better. I still haven't clipped a good buck, but my pops has and most of the neighbors have harvested a real good buck.

Best part is that there is sooooo much state land.

The best thing Pa could have done is give our bucks a chance to get bigger,I've seen better buck because of it.Just put your time in and sooner or later it will all pay off,How long have you been hunting?
