Nice to see a local boy capitialize on a beast. Hopefully, it will stand as the record.

I bet Chuck Adams is not too pleased at the moment.
It is good to see that the home team is back on top if all works out. Get ready for a record number of applications on the next draw? ...........oh well. Brick Wall,)

We'll see how number of applications go in the years to come. My guess, depending on what the AZGF decides to do, is that in 2007 we'll see the highest number of applicants.

If the proposed changes to the elk draw and seasons happen, I think that will have a bigger impact than the pending world record and the increased fees. We always new there were record animals and the fee changes aren't that drastic.

They say the intent on moving some of the seasons out of the rut is to decrease the success rate so they can put more hunters in the woods. I'm all for giving more hunters the opportunity, but I hope the leave the real trophy hunts (like the one where the pending record was taken) alone. There is not many places where you can hunt public land, have a significant number of trophy animals, and have low pressure.

Personally, I'm not sure I like the proposed changes. Even though it may increase the odds of getting drawn, hunting the rut is awsome. I feel like I'm on one of those nature/hunting shows, and the bugeling turns me on. I think it might be worth the wait?
Then again, I'm not getting any younger and don't know how many draws I have left in me. Think

I agree, hunting the rut is a one of a kind experience which is why I hope they leave the premier hunts alone. It is definately worth the wait to get one of these tags, but if you don't it is still nice to have a chance at a hunt anyway. It's one of those half empty/half full things. The opportunity is always out there, so do you wait for the better the hunt (rut) or take better chance at being drawn (non-rut).

Either way, I think it will still take forever for me to be drawn again anyway Brick Wall,)

I'm fairly positive Shawn's bull will stand as the record. As for a record number of applications next year. No big deal, since the 10% cap rule went back into effect, we're a lot better off un the draw than this year.

I'm curious about you guys; Dreamin and Unit5A. I live in Winslow, and 5A is literally in my back yard. I'm curious where you two live, exactly? If you don't mind?
