would any ethical hunter knowingly persue an animal (ELK) that was so fearless of humans that it followed them to their mailboxes and slept in the frontyard with the family dogs???? And then enter it into the record book.
Pope and Young have said they don't want it in the book. I agree Big smile Big smile Big smile

I once knew a guy who raised deer. These where tame as dogs. He had one that grew a tremendous set of horns. So he went out and shot it opening day of season, and tried to enter it into the record books. I ask you where's the pride in having that deer in the books?

It's not about pride, it's about money. These days a trophy set of antlers can be sold for thousands of dollars. If it's at the very top of the book, thousands upon thousands of dollars.

Blame the people who are willing to pay 6-figure amounts to be able to say "I own the 2nd largest set of deer (or whatever) antlers ever measured." They can't say they hunted the animal, or shot it, but they can say they now own the antlers, and for them that is worth gobs and gobs of money. Go figure. I sure don't understand it.
